Enid Stoye died on 2 January 2015. In 1960 she was appointed lecturer in history at Royal Holloway. She taught early modern European History, in particular the 18th century and threw herself into the life of the College. She acted, she sang, she played in the orchestra and was one of the dons willing to join undergraduates in The Happy Man after a History Society meeting. Enid also did her duty as a member of some of the College’s strategic committees during the period when men were first admitted as undergraduates between 1965 and the 1970s.
