What would you tell your 18-year-old student self?

By Development and Alumni Relations Team

With more and more young people deciding to go to university, the choices they have can be plentiful and the decisions quite daunting – something many alumni can relate to.

Looking back at your personal experience, what would you tell your younger, student self?

Royal Holloway is asking alumni to let us know the advice you have for future students to give them a heads-up on uni life.

Maybe you would have told yourself to organise your time better during your studies; not to worry about being away from home for the first time; to make sure you go to your lectures; to get involved in as many clubs and societies as possible, meet as many people as you can or maybe just not forgetting to call home once in a while!

As they say, hindsight is a wonderful thing, but being able to pass down advice to the younger generation, be it your own children or friends, can be invaluable.

We’d love to hear what you have to say, so if you would like to take part please email us with your advice at press@rhul.ac.uk.

Your comments may be used in marketing materials to help us give future students an insight into university life and what they should be thinking about before applying for a place.
