The Big Give Christmas Challenge raises over £120,000

By Development and Alumni Relations Team

The Big Give Christmas Challenge was a huge success, raising over £120,000 to support scholarships and work placements at Royal Holloway in just one week!

The Big Give Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest online match funding campaign which helps UK-registered charities raise funds for their cause. The campaign is run by the Big Give which was founded by entrepreneur, philanthropist and Honorary Fellow Sir Alec Reed in 2007. Donations made online between noon on 28 November and noon on 5 December were kindly doubled by our key supporters and the Big Give’s philanthropic partner, The Reed Foundation.

This year, over £11 million was raised through the challenge for more than 2,500 charity projects and we are delighted that the College was one of the top 3 most active institutions that have contributed to this figure this year.

Campus was a hub of activity throughout the week, with students and staff getting involved with fundraising activities including the Big Give Launch Festival, a bake sale, a movie night and the Santa Fun Run, all in aid of the challenge.

Thank you to our kind and active Campaign Ambassadors and student societies, who supported the campaign throughout the week, and to everyone who donated to support our talented students!
