MA Screenwriting alumnus nominated for a BAFTA

MA Screenwriting alumnus Mahdi Fleifel has been nominated for a BAFTA for his stunning film, "A Drowning Man".

Mahdi Fleifel (MA Feature Film Screenwriting, 2007), RHUL Alumnus, writer and director, is celebrating yet another milestone of his career, as his recent short film “A Drowning Man” gets nominated for BAFTA Film Awards 2018 in the Best British Short Film category.

“A Drowning Man” is a story about The Kid who, alone and far from home, who makes his way through a strange city looking for the means to get through his day. Surrounded by predators he is forced to make compromises merely to survive, his life of exile grows one day longer.

The film can be seen at Curzon Cinema, Bloomsbury on 6 February.

This is not the first time Mahdi celebrates success in the filmmaking industry. He is well known for his other works  A World Not Ours (2012) and A Man Returned (2016), which won the Grand Prize of the international competition in The Short Film Festival in Switzerland.
