As many of you will have seen in January’s alumni newsletter, the Archives and the MA Public History course are running a joint oral history project this Spring. Following on from last year’s Women in Science project, this year we are focussing on alumni from the 1960s, a time of change at the Colleges with the introduction of male undergraduates in 1965 and the expansion of Higher Education across the country.
The call for volunteers resulted in a fantastic response from alumni from both Bedford College and Royal Holloway College. Thank you to all of you who volunteered your time. Due to student numbers we are not able to interview everyone who volunteered this year but we plan to use the same theme for next year’s project so that we can conduct more interviews.
MA Public History students are conducting their interviews over April and will be exploring themes including motivation for studying at Bedford or Royal Holloway, student life at the Colleges, and employment and family life after College.
